Glasgow Food Policy Partnership (GFPP)

Partnership Organisation overseeing the delivery of the Glasgow City Food Plan
GFPP is a group of public, private and voluntary sector organisations who have come together with one specific objective. We believe that a fairer, healthier, more sustainable and resilient food system would make Glasgow an even better city to live in. We want #GoodFoodForAll and we believe that together we can make it happen. We define ‘good food’ as food that is: vital to the quality of people’s lives in Glasgow. As well as being tasty, healthy, accessible and affordable, our food should be good for the planet, good for workers, good for local businesses and good for animal welfare. Everyone should know where their food comes from, and everyone should understand and celebrate the exciting variety of fresh, nutritious and affordable food available right on their doorstep. We care passionately about our communities, your well-being, and our environment.

Maryhill Burgh Halls Trust

The Nolly Cafe
Maryhill Burgh Halls Trust are very proud to welcome you to our very first in-house café. Whether you are popping in for refreshments after a gym session, taking a pit stop when walking along the canal or just having a rest after checking out our latest exhibition, we can’t wait to welcome you to your Maryhill’s community café. The café name was one of many suggested from members of our local community, and was finally chosen after a public vote in 2022. ‘Nolly’ is a local term of affection for the Forth & Clyde Canal, which flows behind our building. All purchases help support the charitable work of Maryhill Burgh Halls Trust.

Steetcare Volunteers

Steetcare Project
To assist the “Homeless” and others on the pavement, or in hostels, or in the community generally, who are in need of assistance. This may be visually / verbally / writing asking for help, looking like they need assistance or simply presenting as in need of assistance. Assistance comes in the form of our 2 initiatives - the TWALK and the TDROP The TWALK, every Wednesday evening, around the city centre and the west end, provides hot drinks, soup, other foods and warm clothing on a non-judgemental basis for those who present as needing support. And it provides a listening ear for people who find themselves living in isolation and provides information on services and organisations available to assist those in need. The TDROP, promotes the ethos of ‘zero waste’ by working with stores in Glasgow to ensure that any food that they have, due to be disposed of, can be used by the Project. Our TDROP activity takes place 5 nights a week and we make 15 different collections during the week. By distributing these goods to those who present as needing support or to “Homeless” shelters., or to Community food initiatives.
