Bigotry, hate and aggression towards anyone, including people with marginalised backgrounds, will never be tolerated by the Food & Climate Action team and GCFN Board. To the refugee, migrant, Muslim and BIPOC communities being targeted by violence in the UK, we stand with you.
Climate change can be one of the many contributing factors to individuals and communities migrating to a new place. We believe that standing up against racism and oppression is climate action; the exchange of different cultural knowledge between communities is climate action; fostering communities that are kind to one another is climate action.
To support our refugee and migrant communities at this time, please consider the following:
- Follow and donate to groups like the Runnymede Trust, Refuweegee, Govan Community Project and Together with Refugees
- Engage in conversation about these topics with people around you, even if they don’t personally affect you day-to-day
- Turn up in solidarity to community actions, even if these topics don’t personally affect you day-to-day
