In collaboration with Rhyze Mushrooms, this workshop brings participants together to look to fungi for answers and support in building resilience and solutions to the multiple and overlapping crises humanity faces today. Exploring the socio-political potential of a ‘radical mycology’ - this workshop focuses less on specific cultivation techniques, and rather considers the myriad ways mushroom cultivation could help transform our food system.

We will cover topics such as the role mushroom cultivation can play in building more diverse, accessible and resilient food systems; a discussion of the role of Fungi as medicine and the cultural and political significance of foraging; fungi and sustainable biomaterials; mycorrhizal fungi and their importance for plant and soil health.

There will then be some practical activities. Participants will go home with a simple oyster mushroom grow kit, some cardboard spawn and a DIY mycelium tealight holder as well as an oyster mushroom life cycle poster and a mushroom cultivation zine. *Please bring a container (bottle, juice carton etc) for one of the activities*

We will have a break half way through and also be sharing some local mushroom based food!

This workshop is open to any who is based in the East End of Glasgow.
