This special event explored how food growing practices from diverse cultural backgrounds are strengthening the resilience of Glasgow's local food system. The event will took place alongside GCFN’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), offering an opportunity to connect with our network and learn more about our work over the past year.

For many people, the chance to grow culturally familiar foods can create a sense of home and belonging in a new place. We will hear success stories from groups providing more opportunities for people to establish that connection, particularly by adapting crops and seeds from other countries to thrive in Glasgow's climate.

The aims of the event were to:

  • Provide a platform for groups and individuals who have successfully grown culturally relevant crops to share their experiences with the wider public.
  • Support New Scots, refugees, and asylum seekers in Glasgow to connect with local food-growing resources and groups.
  • Explore how we can better communicate the value of cultural histories and knowledge related to food in strengthening communities.

A complimentary lunch was provided by MILK Cafe.
