Eco Drama

Idea in a Nutshell

Eco Drama will be using the money to deliver their project, 'Pollok Grows Together'. The project is a community-led food-growing and green space initiative that integrates environmental action with creative engagement. Building on the success of previous work in Pollok, the project fosters community stewardship of the newly established Pollok Community Orchard, which was planted in collaboration with residents and schools in November 2024. This next phase (2025–26) will focus on deepening engagement and ensuring the orchard’s sustainability as a valuable local resource.

Through a combination of volunteer-led orchard maintenance, educational workshops, seasonal community gatherings, and creative activities, the project will empower local people to connect with nature, learn food-growing skills, and strengthen social bonds. It will also support the development of a dedicated volunteer and steering group to secure the orchard’s long-term success. From April 2025, the project will only be part-funded by the Glasgow Communities and Place Fund and Awards for All, with current total shortfall of £4,948. A grant of £3,000 from Glasgow Community Food Network would help to cover the costs of volunteer materials, food and access costs for meetups and maintenance sessions, and further planting equipment such as seeds and planters, and an Orchard Skills workshop, based on needs identified by the group.

Experience

For over 15 years, we have been creating inspiring theatrical experiences and creative learning projects for children, young people and their communities.

Our work explores how we can use the transformative power of the arts, nature connection and outdoor education as a catalyst for social and environmental change.

Eco Drama’s theatre productions, outdoor learning projects, training courses and creative projects are delivered in schools, theatres, community venues and festivals throughout Scotland and beyond.

We are proud to have worked with over 102,400 children and young people and their communities to date, and to be Scotland’s longest established ecological theatre company.
