SFC vists Glasgow Allotments Forum
The Scottish Food Coalition (SFC) of which Glasgow Allotments Forum (GAF) is a member, have been working to influence the Good Food Nation Bill that was launched in October 2021 and is now under discussion in Parliament. The Bill is currently being considered by MSPs who sit on the Rural Affairs, Islands and Natural Environment (RAINE) Committee.
This month SFC are organising a case study tour led by Mary Brennan, Chair of SFC. She is inviting MSPs and civil servants to join her and visit a few organisations across Scotland that show the good practice that is already happening towards the creation of a better food system. They have picked Glasgow Allotments Forum as one of the case studies because the work GAF are doing is really strong and important on many counts, not least in it strengthening community resilience and addressing food poverty.
The visit to Glasgow has been arranged for 21st February with the morning session at Locavore and the afternoon session for GAF at Mansewood allotments. Three members of the GAF committee and two members of the Glasgow Community Food Network will participate. We do not know if any MSP’s will be able to attend but after, the visit SFC will publicise our work to the whole RAINE Committee and the wider public.
